21.10

問中，觀自在菩薩者，舊云觀世音，此譯家錯。又舊翻藥師經中，名為觀世音自在，但乘世音字。今準梵語翻名觀自在，其問有二。一、問清淨；二、問分攝。

In the question, as for 'Bodhisattva Avalokiteśvara', the old translation said 'Guanshiyin', which was an error of the translators. Furthermore, in the old translation of the Bhaiṣajyaguru Sūtra, he was named 'Guanshiyin Zizai', merely adding to the characters 'Shiyin'. Now, conforming to Sanskrit, the name is translated as Avalokiteśvara (Guanzizai). His question has two: first, asking about purification; second, asking about divisions and subsumption.
