Tai says: The Tathāgata refers to the wisdom of the enjoyment body. Because of this wisdom, it manifests as visible forms and sounds. Since the visible forms and sounds of the Tathāgata serve as the predominating condition, there arise in the minds and consciousnesses of sentient beings representations resembling the visible forms and sounds of the Tathāgata. The actual cognitive object is the visible forms and sounds of the Tathāgata, but these are only the predominating cognitive object, not the direct cognitive object. The Tathāgata's wisdom is the causal condition of that predominating cognitive object, because it can directly manifest into visible forms and sounds.
