21.76

次明順決擇，則是知苦斷集證滅修道，知苦有三。一、顛倒依處，能知欲界苦；二、邪行依處，知色界苦；三、內離增上慢所依處者，知無色苦。修依處事者，此斷集也。作證、修習事者，則是證滅修道。

Next, the aids to penetration are explained: namely, knowing suffering, abandoning origination, realizing cessation, and cultivating the path. Knowing suffering has three aspects: 1. the basis of perversion, through which one can know the suffering of the desire realm; 2. the basis of wrong conduct, through which one knows the suffering of the form realm; 3. the basis within oneself free from overweening pride, through which one knows the suffering of the formless realm. The matter of the basis for cultivation: this is the abandonment of origination. The matters of realization and cultivation: these are the realization of cessation and cultivation of the path.
