"An ācārya (disciplinarian)" refers to the one who upholds the Dharma. "An upādhyāya (preceptor)" refers to the master (heshang). "Fellow practitioners who can enlighten and cause to recollect" refers to fellow students who have already gained understanding. The statement "Permitting and prohibiting all things to be done and not to be done" refers to the Great Master; "constantly instructing and admonishing" refers to the latter three teachers. The statement "Know that these are the ones who can speak, hand down the teaching, and speak in accordance" concludes the previous three teachers.
