言自性差別者至或過三百五十學處者，此明七聚尸羅為戒自性，於中從四重乃至七滅諍是二百五十，餘有眾學戒，總為一；謂眾學戒，或分為二：惡作、惡說；或開為一百乃至於于。今據威儀眾多并是，故云或過一百五十。

Regarding 'Differentiations of intrinsic nature up to or exceeding three hundred and fifty training rules': this explains that the seven categories of śīla are the intrinsic nature of moral discipline; therein, from the four defeats down to the seven methods for settling disputes, there are two hundred and fifty [rules]. The remainder comprises the rules for training, taken collectively as one; that is, the rules for training are either divided into two—wrongdoing (duṣkṛta) and wrong speech (durbhāṣita)—or opened into one hundred, and so forth. Now, based on the numerous aspects of deportment being fully included, it therefore says: 'or exceeding one hundred and fifty'.
