"Embracing the Saṅgha": this sutra's extensive teaching is like a string wound around to hold things together, causing the practitioner to be free from the faults of the seven branches of body and speech, like flowers strung together on a thread so that they are not scattered; hence it is called 'embracing'. When body and speech are free [from fault], their actions are made gentle and harmonious, which is called the Saṅgha. When this precept has been established, causing all monks to recite it every half-month, observing it together in mutual accord and ending all disputes, it is therefore called 'bringing joy to the Saṅgha'. Cultivating in accordance with the teaching, in future lives they will certainly achieve the greatest fruition and retribution, thereby attaining spiritual mastery; hence it is called 'enabling the Saṅgha to dwell in comfort'.
