22.97

攝異門分之上者，前決擇分，決擇向前本地分中餘不盡義，攝釋分中，廣辨經法用即決擇其文。今攝異門分中，文義俱辨，名有種種不同，義有眾多差別，一門攝多門，一義攝多義，今并決擇，名攝異門。若說攝異名但攝於文，若說攝異義但攝於義，今號異門則文義俱攝。於此分中論有二卷，此卷在前，故言之上。

Paryāyasaṃgrahaṇī, Part One: The previous Viniścayasaṃgrahaṇī resolved the remaining unexhausted meanings in the preceding Maulī Bhūmiḥ. The Vyākhyānasaṃgrahaṇī extensively analyzed the applications of sūtras and dharmas, thereby resolving their texts. Now, in the Paryāyasaṃgrahaṇī, both text and meaning are analyzed; names have various distinctions and meanings have numerous differences; one category subsumes many categories, and one meaning subsumes many meanings. Now both are resolved together, hence it is called Paryāyasaṃgrahaṇī (Compendium of Synonyms and Categories). If it were said to gather different names, it would only gather the text; if it were said to gather different meanings, it would only gather the meanings; now being named paryāya (synonyms/categories), it gathers both text and meaning. In this section the treatise has two rolls; as this roll comes first, it is called 'Part One'.
