解第二門無我對難知中,云應知是路者,語言是味句所依之路也。多聞是北方天王,持國是東方,增長是南方,醜目是西方,梵云蘇路陀羅,唐云極賢善。云悉達多,唐云一切義成,太子名也。
In explaining the second portal, [the contemplation of] selflessness as an antidote being difficult to know: "One should know that it is a path" means that speech is the path relied upon by words and phrases. "Duowen" (Much-Hearing) is the Heavenly King of the North [Vaiśravaṇa]; "Chiguo" (Upholder of the Realm) is of the East [Dhṛtarāṣṭra]; "Zengzhang" (Growth) is of the South [Virūḍhaka]; "Choumu" (Ugly-Eyed) is of the West [Virūpākṣa]. In Sanskrit it is *Surodhara*, translated into Tang [Chinese] as "Utmost Good and Virtuous". "Xidatuo" (Siddhārtha) is translated into Tang as "All-Purposes-Accomplished", the name of the Crown Prince.
