The fifth [gate] explains undertaking cultivation: regarding the three antidotes, one obtains them as desired, namely the notion of impermanence, the cultivation of loving-kindness, or the concentration of non-perception. Regarding 'abiding in the notion of revulsion toward agreeable objects and so forth': cultivating revulsion toward agreeable bodily objects and so forth is the notion of impermanence; the word 'and so forth' equates to cultivating the contemplation of loving-kindness toward those four disagreeable bodily objects and so forth. Regarding 'abandoning those two kinds, with equanimity, mindfulness, and correct comprehension': this is the concentration of non-perception.
