24.215

前中，一、沙門性者，於善說法毘奈耶中假名出家受沙門性，二、是沙門者，即無礙所攝八支聖道是沙門體，三、沙門義，能息諸惡是沙門義，故此論言又彼追求此沙門果貪瞋癡等畢竟斷義，是故說彼名沙門義，四、沙門果，即智斷二果。

In the former: first, the state of a śramaṇa, which means metaphorically going forth in the well-spoken Dharma and Vinaya and receiving the state of a śramaṇa; second, being a śramaṇa, which means the eightfold noble path subsumed under the unhindered is the essence of a śramaṇa; third, the meaning of a śramaṇa, which means the ability to quiet all evils is the meaning of a śramaṇa, so this treatise states: 'Furthermore, that pursuit of this fruit of a śramaṇa has the meaning of ultimately cutting off greed, hatred, delusion, and so forth; therefore it is said that that is called the meaning of a śramaṇa'; fourth, the fruits of a śramaṇa, namely the two fruits of knowledge and abandonment.
