初解證淨初安立，略由二法，能正攝受證淨性故，建立四種謂攝信戒者，四證淨體不過信戒。於能說者，信佛也。於沙門義者，信法也。於同法等，信僧也。於能證得沙門助伴所有淨信者，是信僧也。深固根本，於餘生中亦不可引。無虛誑故，若證淨性者，總釋於三寶境生信不壞。及淨尸羅下，明其戒淨。

First is to explain the initial establishment of verified confidence. Because, briefly, by two dharmas one is able to correctly grasp the nature of verified confidence, four kinds are established, meaning subsuming faith and precepts: the essence of the four verified confidences does not exceed faith and precepts. Toward the one who can teach, it is faith in the Buddha. Toward the meaning of the śramaṇa, it is faith in the Dharma. Toward those of common Dharma and so forth, it is faith in the Saṅgha. Toward having pure faith in companions who are able to realize the śramaṇa, this is faith in the Saṅgha. Having a deep and firm foundation, it cannot be swayed even in other lives; because it is without deceit, it is the nature of verified confidence. This summarizes giving rise to indestructible faith with respect to the realm of the Three Jewels. Below 'and pure śīla', it clarifies purity of precepts.
