"The fourth explains respectful service, which has seven phrases. Master Jing says: 'From "furthermore, at the very beginning" downward clarifies respecting the Buddha. "Next, one should respectfully serve the Dharma proclaimed by him" is the second, respecting the Dharma. "Next, when cultivating the practice according to the Dharma" is the third, respecting the Saṅgha. Below, respecting the practice of the three trainings constitutes three, making six when added to the preceding; from "from time to time" downward, it presents the substance of the capacity for respectful service through material goods and Dharma. "Next, regarding dhyāna" downward is the seventh, respectfully serving the true reality of the taint-exhausted nirvāṇa. Furthermore, regarding "by three aspects, one should know respectful service, etc.," it briefly explains respectful service as three: first, recognizing that the other has virtue and giving rise to veneration; second, in accordance with what is recognized, offering respect with the body and so forth; third, further displaying banners and canopies as offerings.' Master Da says: 'Being able to proclaim... up to the teaching of the Dharma is one; next, one should respectfully serve the Dharma proclaimed by him is two; through cultivating... up to the training precepts is three; next, one should respectfully serve... up to instruction is four; from time to time... up to enjoying in common is five; next, cultivating samādhi in dhyāna is six; the stage immediately following this... up to being without heedlessness is seven.'"
