本母事序辨攝者，上來已辨。經律二藏種種分別摩咀理迦，次辨阿毘達磨分別法相摩咀理迦，由依法相問答分別，種種文義因之出現，故名本母；或對法藏能生餘二藏之要義，故名本母事。先標名序，後釋名辨，由此序辨總攝一切諸法相故名攝；或此文中能攝序辨之義故名序辨攝。

Regarding 'Summary of the Preface and Analysis of Matters in the Mātṛkā': What precedes has already discerned the various mātṛkās analyzing the Sūtra and Vinaya Piṭakas. Next it discerns the mātṛkā analyzing the characteristics of phenomena in the Abhidharma. Because questions, answers, and analyses are made in reliance on the characteristics of phenomena, and various textual passages and meanings emerge from this, it is called 'mātṛkā' [matrix/mother]; or, because the Abhidharma Piṭaka can generate the essential meanings of the other two Piṭakas, it is called 'Matters of the Mātṛkā'. First, it sets out the title as 'preface'; later, it explains the terms as 'analysis'. Because this preface and analysis summarize all characteristics of phenomena, it is called 'summary'; or, because this text can summarize the meanings of the preface and analysis, it is called 'Summary of the Preface and Analysis'.
