依次下文熏定有五：一、為等至得自在故；二、為受等至現法樂住自在果故；三、為得彼不退道故；四、為修治引功德道故；五、為生淨居故，今此文中略舉前二也。

Following the text below, perfuming meditation has five [purposes]: 1. In order to attain mastery over meditative attainments; 2. In order to receive the fruits of mastery of dwelling in bliss in the present life through meditative attainments; 3. In order to attain their path of non-retrogression; 4. In order to cultivate the path that elicits merits; 5. In order to be born in the pure abodes. In the present text, the first two are briefly cited.
