In the first two liberations, conceptualization and mental reflection are still distant and coarse, hence they are given the name "contemplation." This third liberation eliminates hindrances most excellently, hence it is called "realizing with the body." Therefore, the Abhidharmasamuccaya says: "These eight kinds are called noble abidings because they are what the noble ones abide in." However, the noble ones mostly abide in the third and the eighth, because these are superior and each is at the boundary of the two realms. The World-Honoured One said in a sūtra: "Realizing with the body surpasses the other six because the hindrances of the form and formless realms are abandoned without remainder, and the transformation of the basis is realized." "Fully abiding" means the fundamental perfection of the fourth dhyāna; the eighth is also like this, being the perfection of the Peak of Existence.
