次八勝處以三門辨：一、釋名，先列後釋：一、內有色想觀外色少，若好、若惡、若劣、若勝，於彼諸色勝知勝見得如實相；二、內有色想觀外色多；三、內無色想觀外色少；四、內無色想觀外色多。

Next, the eight stations of mastery (abhibhv-āyatana) are distinguished across three gates: First, explaining the names. First they are listed, and then explained: 1. Having the ideation of internal form, one contemplates external forms as few, whether good, bad, inferior, or superior, and regarding those forms, one gains superior knowing and superior seeing, attaining their true characteristics as they really are; 2. Having the ideation of internal form, one contemplates external forms as many; 3. Having the ideation of no internal form, one contemplates external forms as few; 4. Having the ideation of no internal form, one contemplates external forms as many.
