答：勝伏所緣方生遍果，果法勝故加因六種，勝處唯依伏殊勝境不說所餘。遍處用勝者，此下文說引生神通等故，勝處劣者，唯勝伏所緣不能引生廣功德故，六十二說，修十遍處能為五事，如彼廣說。

Answer: Only when cognitive objects have been overpowered and mastered does the fruition of totality arise; because the fruition dharmas are superior, six kinds are added to the cause. The stations of mastery rely exclusively on subduing extraordinary cognitive objects, without mentioning the remainder. That the totality-bases have superior function means, as explained below in the text, that they induce supernormal powers and so forth. That the stations of mastery are inferior means that they merely overpower and master cognitive objects and cannot induce extensive merits. The sixty-second [fascicle] states that cultivating the ten totality-bases enables five matters, as explained in detail there.
