Fifth, based on the seventy-second fascicle, emptiness subsumes the sixteen aspects, meaning that the four of each—suffering, origin, cessation, and path—are all devoid of self. It states: 'Among the five dharmas, signs extend to three kinds, for tathatā and correct knowledge are also objects of emptiness.' The wishless subsumes eight aspects, the four each of suffering and origin, for signs extend to three kinds, because one does not wish for anything tainted, and names and conceptualizations are objects of emptiness and the wishless. The signless subsumes four aspects: although there are also signless aspects regarding signs and so on, it exclusively contemplates the truth of cessation. This is just as the sixty-ninth fascicle states: 'The gate of liberation through emptiness subsumes eight knowledges: dharma knowledge, subsequent knowledge, the four truths, and the knowledges of exhaustion and non-arising. The wishless subsumes six knowledges: dharma knowledge, subsequent knowledge, suffering, origin, and the knowledges of exhaustion and non-arising. The signless subsumes five knowledges: dharma knowledge, subsequent knowledge, cessation, and the knowledges of exhaustion and non-arising.'
