Jing says: One who cultivates one-sidedly is like one who wishes to contemplate the bases of mastery of blue and so forth: when contemplating, in the preceding preparatory application, one either reflects only on light or reflects on various forms and enters concentration. Regarding the statement, "such two kinds, according to their sequence, either apprehend light or perceive various forms": due to the preliminary means having been accomplished, when correctly entering concentration, one either apprehends light or perceives various forms. One who cultivates completely, in the preliminary means, fully reflects on both kinds, and when managing to enter concentration, both apprehends light and sees various forms.
