備云：色有三相：一、有對有見則顯形表；二、有對無見則於自處障餘五色根相；三、無見對則定境境界一切境色。當知一切三相總有二種：一、十色則前二相；二、定色則第三相。

Bei says: Matter has three characteristics: first, possessing resistance and possessing visibility, which are color, shape, and communicative [matter]; second, possessing resistance and lacking visibility, which are the characteristics of the other five material faculties obstructing [others] in their own locus; third, lacking visibility and resistance, which are all the forms of the objective sphere that are the domain of concentration. It should be known that all three characteristics comprise two kinds in total: first, the ten forms, which are the first two characteristics; second, the forms of concentration, which are the third characteristic.
