言論者，以音聲為性。言說是體，言音者是相，言詞是用，是三差別。又由音聲起句名文，如次別故立三差別。

'Discourse' takes voice and sound as its nature. Verbal expression is the essence; speech sound is the characteristic; vocabulary is the function. These are the three distinctions. Furthermore, from voice and sound arise sentences, names, and phonemes; established according to this sequence are the three distinctions.
