First, 'where a name is obtainable' means that although the other-dependent nature verified by subsequent wisdom is free from nominal expressions, when designated by names it conforms with names; unlike tathatā, which does not conform with names, being obtainable excludes the thoroughly established nature (*pariniṣpanna*). Second, 'a real fact (*vastu*) is obtainable' excludes the imagined nature (*parikalpita*), because although there is a name, it lacks substantial reality. Third, 'this name is not indeterminate regarding this fact' excludes nominal designations of states; this name is solely based upon this fact, just as the name for the blue, etc., that is seen definitely designates that, unlike in a fever where seeing blue one considers it yellow, and when the fever is cured the name becomes indeterminate, being so because of delusion and confusion, and thus the name is indeterminate; it is also like when a vase breaks and becomes shards, the name 'vase' is lost, being indeterminate because of impermanence. Fourth, 'this name applies unhindered to this fact' means that names such as 'matter' always apply whether aggregated or dispersed; unlike a vase or the like, where its name applies when gathered together but recedes when disassembled, the reverse shows that the name applies unhindered to this fact, which excludes nominal designations of aggregation.
