5.35

此十二種決擇，六十三廣說差別建立所由，謂依初不定地於安住心應正取相，謂青瘀相等，此說五識性不定故於境馳流，貪等生起為止息故，觀青瘀等而安住心。

Regarding the reason for establishing the distinctions of these twelve kinds in detail in chapter sixty-three of the Viniścaya: based on the first indeterminate stage, in steadying the mind one should correctly apprehend the marks, namely the blue-bruised mark and so forth. This means that because the nature of the five consciousnesses is indeterminate, they race toward sensory objects, and greed and so forth arise; to bring them to cessation, one contemplates the blue-bruised mark and so forth to steady the mind.
