Fascicle 57 states: Because it has no form, no visibility, and no resistance, it is called 'bodiless.' As for "residing in the four abodes of consciousness in this future life" and so on: if explained according to the theoretical approach of the Sautrāntikas, in the future life there are mental latencies residing in the four abodes of consciousness, so that in subsequent lives, arising from latency, there is going and coming, meaning it engages with objects; this is called 'sleeping in a cave.' Future seeds of consciousness currently residing in the abodes of consciousness can arise in the future; this is the meaning of 'sleeping in a cave.' If this text is explained relying on the approach of ultimate reality: if the consciousness of the future life residing in the four abodes of consciousness has its latency within the fundamental consciousness of the present life, so that in a future birth there can be going and coming, this is called 'sleeping in a cave'.
