In the summarized meaning, Jing says: The mind in the past—this is the summary of 'far-faring.' Long defiled, lacking the nature of an agent—this is the summary of 'faring alone.' Lacking the nature of an agent, in the present period of time its nature is momentary; this is based on the alternating arising of the three natures without a continuous material body. 'By own-nature pure'—this summarizes having no defiled body. From "in the future period of time" downward: this summarizes the conventional designation of defilement and purity in the continuum of consciousnesses characterized by heedlessness and non-heedlessness that are yet to arise; because they have not yet arisen, but merely abide among seeds in present consciousness, it is called 'sleeping in a cave.' The summary does not explain the lower half of that verse.
