Regarding 'Third, having a mind with the mark of agitation conforming to birth; to counteract this, one cultivates the perception of cessation': all conditioned phenomena arise and cease, continually moving, which is called the perception of the movement of birth. Now, seeing that perception is called 'having the perception of movement conforming to birth.' Therefore, to counteract this, one cultivates the perception of cessation because it is free from transition and movement. Alternatively, repeatedly giving rise to joy and delight toward future birth is called 'the perception conforming to movement'; to counteract this, one cultivates the perception of cessation, so that future existence will not arise and there is no mind of wishing for delight. Although there are two explanations, the former interpretation is superior.
