瑪瑙采石者，即一物也，以馬瑙石有采文故也。生色可染者，金是生色，銀是可染，有言是梵音。但玄應師云：生便黃色不可變改，故名金也。白色可染變，故即銀名可染也。赤珠布施者，文右旋也。

Regarding 'agate and variegated stone,' they are the same thing, because agate stone has variegated patterns. Regarding 'primary color and dyeable': gold is primary color (jātarūpa), and silver is dyeable (rajata); some say these are Sanskrit sounds. But Master Xuanying says: It is yellow from birth and cannot be altered, hence it is called gold; white can be dyed and changed, hence silver is named dyeable. Regarding 'giving red pearls,' the text [indicates pearls whose] spirals turn to the right.
