前中，初明依欲界利益意樂心緣三品人平等利益引定地三品快樂及以勝解；二、釋前總句有能緣、所緣兩別。三品有情是所緣；欲界中，利益意樂及能快樂定勝解是能緣。如是二界能緣，總名為慈性分別。欲界者是慈方便，色界者是根本。行者由起慈心平等與樂拔苦，於己身中，自能得引上、中、下品快樂勝解。

In the first part, it first explains that relying on the mind of aspiration for benefit belonging to the desire realm, focusing equally on benefiting persons of the three grades, induces the three grades of happiness and resolute determination of the concentrated stage; second, it explains that the preceding general phrase has two distinct aspects: the cognizing subject and the focal object. Sentient beings of the three grades are the focal object; within the desire realm, the aspiration for benefit and the concentrated resolute determination capable of happiness are the cognizing subject. Such cognizing subjects of the two realms are collectively named conceptualization of the nature of benevolence. That of the desire realm is the preparatory expedient for benevolence, and that of the form realm is the fundamental [benevolence]. Through giving rise to the mind of benevolence to equally grant happiness and eradicate suffering, the practitioner can personally induce resolute determination of upper, middle, and lower happiness within his own body.
