方便四者，景師判云：一、為護尸羅善守其念；二、無放逸；三、一心正於內修奢摩他；四、增上慧法毘鉢舍那。

Regarding the four expedient means, Master Jing determines: '1. well guarding one's mindfulness to protect morality; 2. non-negligence; 3. with one mind correctly cultivating śamatha internally; 4. vipaśyanā as the dharma of higher wisdom.'
