7.319

又於此中乃至勤修加行等者，此貪等偏增行人先應依彼淨行所緣淨修其行心方安住，彼若多貪自緣不淨，多瞋自修慈愍，多癡自觀緣起，我慢自觀六界，尋思多者自觀於息，故言各別所緣勤修加行，廣如上論。

Regarding "Furthermore, herein... up to... diligently cultivating preparation" and so on: these practitioners with a predominance of greed and so forth should first rely on those focal objects of purifying practice to purify their practice so that the mind may settle. If one has excessive greed, one naturally takes impurity as one's focal object; if excessive hostility, one naturally cultivates loving-kindness and compassion; if excessive delusion, one naturally contemplates dependent arising; if excessive conceit, one naturally contemplates the six elements; if excessive discursive thought, one naturally contemplates the breath. Therefore it says "diligently cultivating preparation with respective distinct focal objects", as elaborated in the treatise above.
