7.434

障治十八名心一境性，由此九種白品所攝加行能令其心速疾得定者，此據聞思心中作九加行能速得定。令三摩地轉更升進者，此據定心作九加行能令等持轉更升進。又由此故；於所應往地，及隨所應得，能速疾往，無有稽遲者，欲起神通往於他地及隨所欲修起功德，由此九種加行所欲速成。

The eighteen obstacles and antidotes are called one-pointedness of mind. Regarding "because of these nine preparatory applications subsumed under the white category, one can cause the mind to swiftly attain concentration": this is stated in terms of performing the nine preparatory applications within the minds of hearing and reflection, which can swiftly attain concentration. Regarding "causing samādhi to advance even further": this is stated in terms of performing the nine preparatory applications within the concentrated mind, which can cause absorption to advance even further. Furthermore, "because of this, one can swiftly proceed to the stages to which one should go and in accordance with what should be attained, without any delay": when one wishes to give rise to supernormal powers to go to other stages and cultivate and produce virtues according to what is desired, through these nine kinds of preparatory applications, what is desired is swiftly accomplished.
