自下第四釋第五修作意門，於中有二：初、明初修業者為證心一境性及斷喜樂修四作意；二、教初修業者於修作意取五種相。前中復二，初牒前標列；後別解釋。

From here below, fourth, the fifth heading on cultivating attention is explained, in which there are two parts: first, explaining that beginners, in order to realize one-pointedness of mind and sever joy and pleasure, cultivate four kinds of attention; second, instructing beginners to apprehend five kinds of marks in cultivating attention. In the first part there are again two sections: first, recapping the preceding and listing the headings; later, explaining them individually.
