8.118

次明現量依教生信，於無常行獲得決定，由如是信增上力故數數尋伺觀察一切現見不皆無常之性。謂先安立內外二事，內謂六處等，外事有十六，如文所列。此中內事有十五種所作變異，亦如文列，復有八種變異因緣，亦如文列。

Next, explaining that relying on the teaching gives rise to faith through direct perception (pratyakṣa), one attains certainty regarding the aspect of impermanence; through the predominant power of such faith, one repeatedly investigates and reflects upon, and observes that everything directly seen is consistently of the nature of impermanence. That is, one first establishes the two domains of internal and external entities: the internal refers to the six sense-bases, and so forth; the external entities are sixteen, as listed in the text. Herein, internal entities have fifteen kinds of wrought alterations, also as listed in the text; furthermore, there are eight causes and conditions of alteration, also as listed in the text.
