8.185

彼既了知如是我慢是障礙已乃至隨作意行專精無間等者，恐更起彼我慢為障，作為制伏所知境趣入涅槃專精無間，後心起時，觀察前心為邪為正，專精守護無有間斷，令彼我慢無容得生。泰云：彼不能起入故，但起修任運作意，彼既了知我慢障已便能速疾專精無間，捨前所修任運作意，如是乃至以後觀心緣前觀心故離所緣相。

Regarding 'Having thoroughly understood such pride to be an obstruction, up to: proceeding with attention, focused and without interval,' and so forth: fearing that that pride might arise again to be an obstacle, one takes the known object as subdued, entering nirvāṇa with single-mindedness and without interval; when the posterior mind arises, it observes whether the prior mind is crooked or right, guarding it with single-mindedness without interval, so that that pride has no opportunity to arise. Tai says: Because he cannot give rise to entering, he merely generates spontaneous attention arisen from cultivation. Once he thoroughly understands that pride is an obstruction, he can immediately be focused and without interval, abandoning the spontaneous attention previously cultivated; and so on up to: because the posterior mind of contemplation takes the prior mind of contemplation as object, it is separated from the characteristic of the object.
