8.26

解遠離作意云：最初生起斷煩惱道者，基師釋：二作意不言斷惑，第三遠離能斷煩惱，故言最初斷道生。

In explaining the mental orientation of detachment, it says: "initially generating the path that severs afflictions." Master Ji explains: The [first] two mental orientations do not speak of severing afflictions; the third, detachment, can sever afflictions; hence it is called "initially generating the path of severing."
