釋曰：簡前後故，前初發生增上信故，故簡異前，既不隣近初見道故，故合二十心但名一住，故十迴向彼經說為道種姓，隣近見道無漏道故，見道已去名行種姓，是彼經意今此論意理必不然，姓各異故，此中義意二種皆取者，若依舊地持無此文。

The explanation states: It is to distinguish the earlier from the later. Because the earlier [stage] is where sovereign faith first arises, it is distinguished from the earlier; yet since it is not adjacent to the initial path of seeing, it combines the twenty minds and merely names them as a single 'abiding.' Therefore, the ten dedications are spoken of in that sūtra as the path gotra, because they are adjacent to the taintless path of the path of seeing; from the path of seeing onward, it is called the practice gotra. That is the intention of that sūtra, whereas the meaning of the present treatise definitely cannot be such in principle, because each gotra is distinct. The meaning here that 'both kinds are included' is not found in this passage if one relies on the old Dichilun.
