8.364

上來福果，下明慧果。謂親屬衰亡乃至思能安忍等，由其慧也。其性聰敏，於法能受者，聞持也。能持能思者，義持也。成就念力，於久所作自憶亦令他憶等者，宿念通也。由菩薩加被令他記憶，他既能憶又能令他展轉記憶，由本勢力故得如是。

The above is the fruit of merit; below, the fruit of wisdom is explained. 'Kin dying or falling into ruin, up to being able to patiently endure through contemplation' is due to their wisdom. 'Being intelligent by nature and able to receive the Dharma' is retention of what is heard. 'Being able to retain and contemplate' is retention of meaning. 'Accomplishing the power of mindfulness, so that regarding what was done long ago, one remembers it oneself and also causes others to remember it' is the supernormal knowledge of remembering past abodes. By the bodhisattva's empowerment, others are made to remember; and since others can remember, they can in turn cause others to remember sequentially; because of the original power, it is achieved in this way.
