If one says that effect-nature is the obstructing condition: taking the first dharma as both cause and effect, in relation to the seed, its effect-nature is the obstructing condition, so it is obstructed and unmanifest; in relation to the stalk, its cause-nature is not an obstructing condition, so since it is not obstructed it should be manifest. If so, a single dharma would be both manifest and unmanifest, which does not accord with reason.
