Regarding 'pure practice': the four phrases beginning with the benefit of training, among the twelve practices of obtaining expedients, are solely pure practice; among the five phrases of the basis of affairs of showing compassion for others, according to what is appropriate, they are solely the latter three—namely, instructing, encouraging, and rejoicing. Therefore it says, 'according to what is appropriate, arising instruction, namely instruction up to rejoicing'.
