Regarding ‘making offerings to [one emerging from] the samādhi of benevolence (maitrī-samādhi) and the like obtains fruition in the present life’: this is based on the initial stage of emergence. That is, like one who has just emerged from the samādhi of benevolence, the samādhi of non-contention (araṇā-samādhi), or the absorption of cessation (nirodha-samāpatti); or one who has just attained the fruit of stream-entry or arhatship—it is likewise. It does not apply to long after emergence. Pratyekabuddhas are not mentioned because they are few and thus omitted, but in reality one also obtains it [from them]. Once-returners and non-returners are not mentioned because they are not newly attaining aryahood.
