From "perfection of hearing the true Dharma" onward, the second [base], the causal conditions of cultivation, is explained; it is divided into three parts: first, broadly explaining the three factors; next, from "moreover, having explained the three factors in their proper sequence..." onward, concluding that the extensive teachings are neither deficient nor excessive; and finally, from "furthermore, these three factors should be known as the causal conditions for the yoga of cultivation..." onward, concluding that the three factors are subsumed under the causal conditions of cultivation.
