Second, from "moreover, the factor of vipaśyanā..." onward, in explaining how relying on good spiritual friends to cultivate the three trainings is matured through wisdom, there is first a statement, and then an explanation. In the statement: it means that the initial arising of wisdom arisen from cultivation must be embraced by good spiritual friends; second, embraced by śamatha; and third, embraced by the perfection of śīla. Because it is the initial arising of wisdom arisen from cultivation, it is not said to be embraced by wisdom arisen from cultivation; or, because it is the initial arising of wisdom arisen from hearing, it is not said to be embraced by wisdom, since there is not yet an active, manifest skillful wisdom. If it is wisdom arising later, in principle it is also embraced by wisdom.
