The Saṃyuktābhidharmahṛdaya also states: 'The superior stream-enterers are called kulaṃkula,' because their undergoing of rebirths while progressing to sever defilements is superior to undergoing rebirths while resting in the fruit; hence they are called superior. Tai says: 'In examining the human and divine clans, there are two explanations in the Western region. Master Nanda says: "They both go and come between the two destinies of humans and devas." Master Śīlabhadra says: "A kulaṃkula of two rebirths goes and comes only through two rebirths in heaven; those of three rebirths should be understood accordingly."'
