As for the concentration of non-perception, Fascicle 63 says: 'First arising here, it subsequently manifests again in the form realm.' The Abhidharmakośa says: 'First arising in two realms, the concentration of cessation is common to fixed and unfixed karma produced after birth.' The Mahāyāna doctrine of karma clarifies that karma of the three times and unfixed karma both encompass fixed and unfixed. Relying on the text of the Viniścayasaṃgrahaṇī below, when all arhats wish to enter [nirvāṇa] without remainder, they must enter the concentration of cessation, extinguishing the mind of the six consciousnesses and abiding solely in the ālayavijñāna before passing away. (Master Ji says:) Regarding 'such a trainee having already abandoned attachment to the stage of nothingness, and so forth': this is based on severing defilements and attaining realization. Other texts state: 'The concentration of cessation is only first generated in the desire realm'; this is spoken in terms of relying on the teaching. When first training, one must rely on the desire realm; when first generating it later, it is also attainable in the form realm. For instance, a person of the third fruition who had not yet attained this concentration when previously in the desire realm only attains this concentration after being born in the form realm, which is when they can first generate it; yet this is because they had previously first heard this teaching in the desire realm, and only later were born in the form realm.
