「種子依，如前說」者，《唯識》第七云：依止者，謂前六識，以根本識為共、親依，故六依八。彼第四卷釋七依八有二說：一云唯依種子；二云亦依現行。此第八心既通種、現，種、現相依，更互無失。

Regarding "The seed-support is as previously explained": the seventh fascicle of the *Cheng weishi lun* says: "Supports" refers to the preceding six consciousnesses taking the foundational consciousness as their common and direct support; hence, the six rely on the eighth. The fourth fascicle of that text gives two explanations for the seventh relying on the eighth: one says it relies solely on the seeds; the other says it also relies on the active [consciousness]. Since this eighth mind encompasses both seeds and active [manifestation], seeds and active [manifestation] mutually rely on each other without any error.
