10.3

論一頌中，總有十法。十法者何？如次文自列。前三瑜伽攝此十法：初一瑜伽唯攝持一法，第二瑜伽明次四法，第三瑜伽明下五法。即謂十八品。第四次第瑜伽唯偏簡前三瑜伽所有次第，更無別法。　問：此四持中，何故初得持名？於此持中，明三持故：一者、種姓；二者、堪任；三者、為菩提分法。三義名持，廣釋於此，故得持名。餘至文當解。

In the one verse of the treatise, there are altogether ten phenomena. What are the ten phenomena? They are enumerated in the subsequent text. The previous three yogas subsume these ten phenomena: the first yoga subsumes solely the single phenomenon of support; the second yoga explains the next four phenomena; the third yoga explains the subsequent five phenomena. These refer to the eighteen chapters. The fourth, serial yoga, solely discriminates the sequence of all the previous three yogas, without any other distinct phenomenon. Question: Among these four, why does the first alone obtain the name 'support'? Within this support, because three supports are explained: first, gotra; second, capability; third, as the factors conducive to awakening. These three meanings are called 'support' and are extensively explained here; therefore, it obtains the name 'support'. The rest will be explained as the text arrives.
