In the treatise's explanation of the eight sufferings of enduring injury, regarding the first, "suffering of the resting place," the resting place refers to the four reliances—namely, rag robes cast off in dung, constantly begging for food, sitting in cemeteries and beneath trees, and using fermented medicines for illness, and so forth.
