第三持之第三品也。前明利生，後明勝位，依分差別；菩薩位階，依之如地，故言地品。又我德成處，堪能受生，故名為地。

This is the third chapter of the third category. Previously the benefiting of sentient beings was explained; afterwards the superior stages are explained, differentiated according to divisions. The ranks of the bodhisattva are based on these like a ground (bhūmi); therefore it is called the Chapter on Bhūmis. Furthermore, it is the place where one's virtues are perfected, capable of receiving birth; hence it is named bhūmi.
