The treatise states: 'For all those beyond training (aśaikṣa), all these varieties do not manifest.' Here there are two explanations regarding attachment to self and attachment to dharmas. Candragupta says: Because manas has only attachment to self, the uncontaminated contemplation of the two vehicles has only the eighth consciousness, and the seventh is completely absent. Master Śīlabhadra says: Attachment to dharmas also exists. This is based on the dharmas that are obstructed, namely attachment to self alone, which is why it says it does not operate, not that attachment to dharmas is also eliminated. As in the Buddhabhūmi-śāstra, because this category lacks coarse and subtle [distinctions], it is severed all at once; because it does not obstruct the antidotal path of those in training (śaikṣa), it is severed at the vajropama-samādhi.
