In the section on the continuity and interruption of various physical forms, there are six topics: first, sound; second, wind; third, light and darkness forms; fourth, the uninterrupted arising of large and small; fifth, interpreting the sūtras; sixth, demonstrating the existence of the realm of phenomena (dharmadhātu). "Sound element" refers to the four great elements as the causes producing sound. "Constantly moving wind" refers to the winds that support the world, the sun disc, and so on. Constantly continuous dark forms refer to darkness within the world; it is not said of the empty aeon, hence we know it does not exist then. Or the principle is not so: it is spoken of as open space, and therefore not given the name "darkness". "Firmness is just that element" refers to the earth element. "Subsumed by firmness" refers to the remaining characteristics. "Seeds that are not appropriated" refers to undefiled seeds. Although they depend upon consciousness, because consciousness does not take them as objects, they are called "not appropriated".
